Dr. Vincent J.
Murray

Director
Dr. Vincent J. Murray has been the Executive Director at
Bagley Housing Association since May of 1995. During his tenure, Bagley Housing Association in
cooperation with the local citizens district council (Hubbard-Richard), has
organized and begun to implement a total revitalization plan for the
neighborhood adjacent to Ste. Anne's Church in southwest Detroit. Developments
already complete or about to break ground total more than $30 million.
Throughout his professional career his primary interests always have been the
practice of human and community development.
Prior to directing Bagley Housing Association, Dr. Murray had 25 years of
counseling and consulting experience in corporate, academic and community
development environments. As a founding partner in a national career counseling
company (Mainstream Access Inc), he developed and directed major career
transition projects for many corporations, including Bethlehem Steel, Inland
Steel, Holiday Inns and General Motors (1980 - 1993). He also served for ten
years as a Counseling Psychologist at Seton Hall University in New Jersey (1969
- 1980) and prior to that (1967-1969) as Director of Guidance and Counseling at
Hudson Catholic High School in Jersey City, NJ. He is licensed in the State of
Michigan as a professional counselor (LPC) and has maintained a private practice
since 1993.
Since relocating to Detroit in 1986, Vince has become an
active community member, serving on a variety of volunteer boards for
organizations such as Southwest Detroit Business Association/ Mexican town
Communality Development Corporation. New Detroit, the Archdiocesan Advisory
Board of Education, Ste. Anne de Detroit parish, the Jeremiah Project and the
Community Development Advocates.
Vince holds a doctoral degree in Psychological Foundations of Education from Rutgers University, a masters degree in Personnel and Guidance (Group Process specialty) from Seton Hall University and a graduate degree in Theology from the Gregorian University in Rome, Italy. His undergraduate degree in Philosophy was earned at Seton Hall University. He is also a board member of Habitat for Humanity - Detroit.
Vince is married to Ursula Trenta Murray. They were
married in
1968. Ursula has been Director of Academic Advising at Madonna
University since 1991
