At less than 400 square feet, the Bagley Housing Art Gallery might be the smallest art showroom in Metro Detroit. But it promotes Hispanic culture in a big way through changing exhibits and programs.

“I like the gallery,” says painter Ramon Angel Guadiana, solo exhibitor for Hispanic Heritage Month, which goes through Oct. 15. “It’s intimate and gives me all the space I need.”

“If you wanted to look at a successful redevelopment of a neighborhood, one with setbacks and people overcoming obstacles to succeed, we have done it,” Murray said. “Beyond the condos, we have another 16 (single-family) homes that can be added.”
In recent years, Bagley Housing has worked closely with private developers and city officials to clean up environmental problems, fix roads and street lamps, gain clear title to land and apply for building permits.
Murray said demand for housing has come largely from area residents, growing families and recent Hispanic immigrants. The neighborhood is across Interstate 75 from Mexican Village, a retail, restaurant and entertainment area.
The new two-story Ste. Anne’s Gate Condominiums will offer units with two bedrooms, a large kitchen, one-and-a-half baths, a two-story foyer and a one-car attached garage. Prices range from ...MORE

Southwest condominium units due in 2003 -- 10-23-2002
Bagley Housing plans to build project near Ste. Anne Church


The new condominiums are one of the first housing developments in southwest Detroit not subsidized by the city, state or federal government. Stanton Park Dedication - 10-3-2002
